Dubrovnik’s location along the coast allows for ample opportunities to explore its beautiful beaches. Banje Beach, located just outside the city walls, is a popular spot where crystal-clear waters invite visitors for a refreshing swim. The beach is surrounded by lively bars and restaurants, providing the perfect atmosphere to unwind while savoring traditional Croatian cuisine.
As we enjoyed our time on the beach, the sunset laid a kaleidoscope of colors across the sky, creating a magical moment that epitomized the beauty of Dubrovnik. The backdrop of the Old Town created an alluring scene that would linger in our memories long after our visit.
To really take in the sunset it's worth taking the cable car up to the view above the city.
In addition to the beach, Dubrovnik offers various island excursions. With our limited time we only were able to see a couple of the islands from afar along the way on our ferry ride from Split to Dubrovnik. The most popular islands, if you had the time to explore, are Hvar, Brac and Korcula. Others that are highly regarded are Mljet, Vis and Kornati islands for sailing adventures
As we moved on from Split to Dubrovnik, we became fully aware that Croatia was a country filled with stunning landscapes and rich history. Dubrovnik, often referred to as the "Pearl of the Adriatic" is a UNESCO World Heritage site, renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and breathtaking coastal views.
Upon arriving in Dubrovnik, we were immediately captivated by the Old Town, characterized by its impressive stone walls that date back to the 16th century. Walking through the main street, Stradun, you will find a vibrant atmosphere filled with shops, cafes, and historical landmarks. The Rector's Palace and the Sponza Palace stand as testaments to the city’s glorious past, showcasing the intricate design and artistry of that era.
One cannot visit this stunning city without taking a stroll along the city walls. Spanning nearly two kilometers, the walls offer panoramic views of the Adriatic Sea and the surrounding red-roofed buildings, providing an ideal backdrop for photographs. As we walked along the walls, we were reminded of the historical significance of Dubrovnik, which thrived as a maritime power in the Middle Ages.
As our time in Dubrovnik came to an end, it was clear that this city had a unique charm that set it apart from other destinations in Croatia. From the rich history found in the Old Town to the breathtaking coastal views and vibrant culture, Dubrovnik has delighted us in ways we could have never anticipated. Those considering a trip to Croatia should ensure that Dubrovnik is included in their itinerary as it offers an unforgettable experience defined by beauty and history.
Hope you enjoyed! Croatia truly is a worthwhile destination for so many reasons.
Sunshine Always!!

In addition to Split and Dubrovnik as the two must see stops in Croatia, there is much more. We were able to hire a driver for the day at a very affordable rate and he took us to the Wall of Ston in Ston. One of the longest fortified walls in the world. It's construction dates back to 1358. The complete trek takes about two hours, but the views are spectacular. Cost is 10 Euros.
In addition to our stop at Ston, we toured the salt making flats, a couple of vineyards and indulged in some wine tasting as well as the local oysters.

Our two wine stops Pijavicino (favorite) & Potomje area.

Also several choices of boat excursions around Dubrovnik worth exploring
Finally, for the foodies a few shots of some delicious meals
